Answers
1.) What is Document Imaging?
Document Imaging is a process in which documents are scanned and converted into digital documents. Many businesses today are converting their paper documents into digital formats for many reasons. A business can save time by finding their documents in seconds rather than hours. A business can also save space by reducing or eliminating the amount of file cabinets, which can consume large amounts of office space.
2.) Do you provide this service Nation-Wide?

Our most commonly requested file formats are TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) and PDF (Portable Document Format) which has become a standard in business today. We can also provide other file formats such as but not limited to: BMP, JPG, PSD, TGA, PCT, GIF and more.
5.) Can I load the files into my system?
Record Express often creates certain types of load files for many document management software programs (Concordance, Summation, I-Pro and more). Depending on the program you are using, Record Express can create a standard or customized type of load file. Some businesses simply request an Excel Spreadsheet with links to the files scanned, whiles others request a .CSV file (Comma Separated Value). Regardless of your program, we'll do our best to make sure it loads into your system the way you want it.
6.) How many images or pages can I fit onto a CD?
The answer to this question depends on the type of file format. In most cases, a CD can contain anywhere from 10,000 images to 20,000 images. These would usually be .TIF or .PDF files.
7.) How many images or pages can I fit onto a DVD?
The answer to this question would depend on two things. The first would be the type of file format, and the other would depend on the type of DVD. DVD technology has become more and more advanced over the past few years. The average DVD can hold anywhere from 75,000 to over 100,000 images. However, new types of DVD are expected to hold as much as 100 times the abount of data used by current DVD's.
8.) What type of scanner do you use?
Record Express uses multiple types of scanners. Some of our scanners can scan up to 180 images per minute (both sides at once). Other scanners consist of flatbeds, which are most often used for delicate types of documents. Large format scanners are also an option, especially for blueprints and architectural drawings.
9.) Why should I digitize my paper files?
There are multiple reasons to digitize your paper files and documents. Imagine the time it takes to track down and find a misplaced file, then imagine finding a digital version of that file in one second. For businesses, time is money.
Another good reason to go paperless, is to save on paper! Paper and paper supplies all add up in the end, by eliminating thess expenses you can divert the saved cash to other needed areas.
Filing cabinets use up a lot of much needed office space. Many companies find that by eliminating filing cabinets, more room is allowed for desks, cubicles, and more. These are just a few reasons why so many offices around the world are converting their paper files into digital files.
Probably the most important reason to digitize paper files is redundancy. Digital documents can easily be backed up. Many businesses do not have a disaster recovery plan in place. Hurricanes, floods and fires are just a few examples of unplanned events that can dramatically effect the future of any business. Data backup is the best way to protect a company from a disaster.

No. The most common types of files (such as PDF or TIF) can be viewed with free software such as Adobe Acrobat Reader. The software can also include beneficial features such as security, permissions, automatic retention, indexing, OCR and more. Although document management software can be very beneficial, it is not an absolute necessity.
14.) What is OCR?
Optical Character Recognition is the recognition of printed characters. When a text document is scanned, it is turned into a bitmap, which is a picture of the text. OCR software analyzes the light and dark areas of the bitmap in order to identify each alphabetic letter and numeric digit. When it recognizes a character, it converts it into ASCII text. Hand printing is much more difficult to analyze than machine-printed characters. Old, worn and smudged documents are also difficult.
15.) What is OMR?
OMR stands for Optical Mark Recognition. This technology is commonly used in surveys, student tests, some lottery tickets and other applications. Basically, it allows for fast processing of the above apllications. The software sutomatically recognizes and processes the results of tests, surveys, etc.
The results of the processing can be displayed in Excel spreadsheets, .csv files, charts, graphs, etc.
